Pathways School Noida hosted a student-led Astronomy Workshop, led by Divit Malhotra and Kaashvi
Jain of Grade 9, both did an outstanding job of utilizing their passion and creatively introducing it to the
students of 7th grade. This included a presentation about what was present outside of the Earth’s
atmosphere, a field trip to the planetarium, and an exciting stargazing workshop.
As part of the workshop students were taken on a field trip to ‘Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium’ where they
explored and gained knowledge about past space missions and how we got to know what we currently do
about Astronomy. Part of what they learned was about how India currently has 3 dome projectors and the
planetarium has one of them. Following which the students saw the dome show and learned about the
beginning of the universe.
During the stargazing event the students were able to see stars through the professional equipment that
was brought to the school. The students even observed Jupiter through the telescopes. Each child was able
to observe the night sky and enjoy its celestial beauty through the opportunity Pathways School Noida
provided.
This innovative workshop led by Kaashvi and Divit was a hands-on experience that helped the students of
Grade 7 learn about Astronomy. The students engaged in various activities that helped them learn in an
innovative manner. The workshop provided the ideal combination of Astronomy, intellectual experiences
and education for the students.
